US Military Struck a 'Major Complex' in Venezuela, Trump Stated Without Providing Details.

Ex-President Trump has stated that American forces hit a "large facility" in Venezuela in recent days. But, the ex-leader did not specify the exact purpose or site of the strike, and officials have issued no additional clarification from his team.

Unspecific Comments Made During a Talk Interview

"US forces just knocked out – I'm not sure if you saw – they have a large facility, where the ships depart from. Recently, we knocked that out. So we targeted them very hard," Trump reportedly said to GOP supporter and businessman John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Potential Implications of a Confirmed Attack

Should a American strike is verified, it would constitute the first ground target hit since the US Department of Defense began a buildup of US strike forces in the region to halt narco-trafficking operations that the Trump administration asserts operate under the orders of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

The initial objective of the force deployment has transformed into a blockade aimed at disrupting the nation's oil exports.

Online Video and Administration Claims

Trump has for some time warned that US forces are ready to escalate the operations by striking targets within Venezuela, a move that would in theory require legislative approval.

Video footage posted on social media on 24 December purportedly showed an detonation reportedly from an industrial zone in Zulia state. But, the footage or the site in question has not been confirmed by third parties.

An source reportedly told a news network that the president was referring to a narco-trafficking site in his comments.

Reaction and Ongoing Military Posture

The Venezuelan government has not commented on the alleged strike Trump described. Additionally, there have been no independent reports from Venezuela regarding it.

The buildup of US military in the area – a stance some have termed a sea blockade – represents the most expansive naval operation of the Trump era.

Sources have avoided from labeling the action as a blockade, but have stated that around 15,000 troops are stationed across the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf, including a carrier strike group, F-35 aircraft, and Coast Guard cutters to uphold current economic sanctions.
